What the DTV visa is
Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a five-year multiple-entry non-immigrant visa introduced in 2024. It is for foreigners who live in Thailand long-term without taking a Thai job: remote work for a foreign employer or income, and qualifying Thai Soft Power activities such as Muay Thai, Thai cooking, medical treatment, study and cultural programmes.
Each entry normally allows a stay of up to 180 days. Immigration may grant one extension of up to 180 days. After 180 + 180 days the holder must leave Thailand and may re-enter while the visa remains valid. A five-year visa is not five years of continuous stay.
DTV is not a tourist visa, not Non-O, not Non-B, not LTR, not SMART Visa and not permanent residence. It does not replace a Work Permit for work for a Thai employer. Financial evidence of at least THB 500,000 is part of the official baseline; the responsible mission may add further rules.
