New deportation rules have come into effect in Thailand, published on August 27 and effective from August 28, 2026. These rules clarify the deportation procedure for foreign nationals whose behavior is deemed a threat to public order or morality, as well as those convicted of certain offenses (illegal entry, employment, or business operations). Prison authorities must notify about deportation at least 15 days prior to release. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that governors do not need to wait for foreigners to be punished in Thailand, as keeping them in the country consumes national resources. As an example, on October 23, 2026, on the island of Koh Phangan, an Israeli citizen’s visa was revoked due to “inappropriate behavior,” including threats and rudeness. This is the third case of an Israeli citizen’s visa being revoked on the island, and a total of ten foreign visas have been revoked since January. 2026-10-20
