Starting August 28, 2026, new deportation rules have come into effect in Thailand, providing for expedited removal procedures for foreign nationals convicted of certain crimes or posing a threat to public order and security. The new system covers immigration violations, illegal employment, unlawful business activities, document forgery, and serious crimes, as well as "behavior contrary to public order, good morals, or public welfare." The authorities have declared a "zero tolerance" policy toward foreigners who break the law, cause public disturbances, or show disrespect for Thai culture, which can lead to detention, visa cancellation, deportation, and blacklisting.
