What TM30 is
TM30 is the Immigration Bureau residence-notification process implementing Section 38 of the Immigration Act.
Who has the reporting duty
The official TM30 system identifies house owners, heads of household, landlords and hotel managers accommodating a foreign national permitted to stay temporarily as persons responsible for notification.
Deadline
The official system states that notification is required within 24 hours from the foreign national's arrival at the residence.
Online filing
Immigration provides an online TM30 system for qualifying accommodation providers including hotels, guesthouses, apartments and rental properties.
TM30 is not a visa
TM30 records residence information. It does not issue a visa and does not extend permission to stay.
Documents
The exact property and identity documents depend on the accommodation and filing circumstances. Current Immigration requirements should be checked before filing.
