Re-entry Permit Frequently Asked Questions

Questions are based on recurring themes in public Thailand visa and immigration discussions. Answers do not copy community replies: factual claims are grounded in official sources, while reported applicant experience is identified as practice.

What is a re-entry permit for?

It is used to preserve the relevant existing permission to stay when leaving and returning to Thailand.

Single vs multiple re-entry?

Single covers one relevant return; multiple is intended for repeated travel within the applicable validity.

What are the official re-entry fees?

The Immigration public handbook lists THB 1,000 for single and THB 3,800 for multiple re-entry.

Does re-entry extend my visa or extension?

No. It does not add time to the underlying permission to stay.

Does DTV need a re-entry permit?

DTV is itself a multiple-entry visa. A re-entry permit should not automatically be applied to DTV by analogy with an annual extension of stay.
