Non-B Visa FAQ

Questions are taken from QuickWiki visa categories. Factual claims follow the wiki text and official-source baseline; mission and Immigration-office lists can differ.

What is a Non-B visa?

Non-Immigrant B is the Thai business/work entry category under MFA / Thai e-Visa “Work and Business Visas”. It may be used for employment with a Thai employer, business activity or other Category B grounds documented by the inviting company.

Is Non-B the same as a Work Permit?

No. Non-B is the immigration ground. Permission to work is a separate labour procedure. Holding Non-B does not by itself allow any job. The employer must not let a foreigner work without the required work authorisation.

Do Non-B holders need Re-entry and a 90-day report?

A one-year Non-B stay is usually cancelled if the holder leaves without a Re-entry Permit (commonly THB 1,000 single / THB 3,800 multiple). Continuous stay also requires the 90-day address report when that duty applies.

What employer documents are typical?

The first Non-B employment filing abroad follows the mission list and often includes a labour-ministry approval letter obtained through WP3 plus company papers. An extension inside Thailand can require a wider tax, social-security and activity set. BOI cases use a separate route.
